A look at our Summer 2018 at Forest Explorers.

Summer 2018 has been a truly wonderful one. As well as being the hottest summer we’ve had in a long time, we’ve had a whopping 350 visitors through our doors at Forest Explorers for a whole range of events. From Forest Babies, to Holiday Clubs, to Woodcraft events, there has been something for every member of the family. We’ve had many new faces, and lots of our lovely regulars and its been a joy getting to know you all, and seeing everybody have so many great experiences in the forest.

We thought we’d do a blogpost looking back at some of our highlights over the summer months and share some of our favourite pictures too.

We’re going on a Bear Hunt.

We had a brilliant session exploring the popular story book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. Our forest explorers built their very own ‘caves’, made lots of food for the bears and acted out the story on a walk to find the bear. A very popular event enjoyed by everyone especially the bears!

Forest Holiday Club

One of our favourite events of the year, our hugely popular forest holiday club was as much fun as always this year. Jam packed with so many activities and fun this year our forest explorers took part in building rope courses and learning knot skills, carving gnomes, shelter building, lots of free play, forest games and much much more.

Family Survival Day

Everyone had a fabulous day on our Family Survival Day today. Families worked together to build their own ‘camp’ including a shelter and fire to toast marshmallows. A real team effort, team building day, fantastic effort everyone!

Teddy Bears Picnic

It seems both ranger Vikki and ranger Ellie had as much fun as the kids today at our Teddy Bear’s Picnic!

Amazing homes were built for all the teddies (and monkeys, babies and rabbits!), they made them natural forest drinks, made their teddies a special forest friend to take home and took teddies to the fire to watch marshmallows being toasted!

We hope all the teddies and all the children enjoyed their adventures to Forest Explorers.
