How are we dealing with COVID-19 at Forest Explorers

We have now returned to the forest to deliver our group sessions to you and we have an amazing new site to share with you all!

Unfortunately we are not running or taking bookings for birthday parties at the moment.

Please read the information below which outlines the safety measures we have put in place to ensure we help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and how we are working to keep both yourselves and our staff stay as safe as possible during our sessions.

We will be updating our information regularly and are subject to change following government guidance.

What you can expect from us at Forest Explorers and what we expect from you

We want our sessions to continue being as fun as we possibly can make them whilst at the same time acting responsibly.

Our staff are not wearing masks but may be wearing visors when welcoming you, signing you in and speaking to you for any prolonged period of time; visors will be removed when walking around the forest and seeing how you are getting on with the activities.

Unfortunately our staff can not hold hands or hug children and will be maintaining a distance of 2 metres from you and your group.

We will have a maximum of 12 children booked on to our home educated and family sessions; this does not include younger siblings and we do ask wherever possible that younger siblings do not attend however we know this is not always practical. All siblings must sit on the parents laps when around the fire circle.

We ask that only 1 adult attends with the child booked on; 2 children can attend with 2 adults.

Please ensure your group attending is no more than 6 people in total and you must be from the same household.

School groups may visit with 30 children, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate 2 classes from the school at the moment. Please only bring the required staff/parent helpers required for the ratios.

Please do not attend our sessions if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19. If you arrive at the session and are showing signs, unfortunately you will be asked to leave.

If you show symptoms up to 2 weeks after attending our session please can you inform us, we can then take the necessary steps required to contact those that also attended the session.

For the sessions that require paperwork to be returned including booking forms (schools and Forest School) and parental consent forms (home education) please ensure you have returned these to us before the date of your session. No forms and pens will be available at the sessions.

All the equipment that we use during our sessions will have been sanitised and left for at least 4 days before being used again.

We will have hand sanitiser available at our sessions and insist everyone sanitises their hands before they enter the site to start the session. You will also be asked to sanitise/wash hands regularly throughout the session. Please also bring your own sanitiser. We also ask that you was your hands for at least 20 seconds with water and soap at the main visitor toilets before and after the session.

At this time we will not be administrating minor first aid for cuts and grazes so please bring along a mini first aid kit to the session. We will of course step in for more serious incidents and have a fully stocked first aid kit to use where necessary.

Please take all rubbish home with you, we will not be disposing of your rubbish at any of our sessions and as our site is in the wider forest, there are no bins nearby. If there is a fire at your session and the rubbish you have can be burnt, you can add it to the fire (no metal or items that contain plastic).

We would like you to bring a few things with you to our sessions to ensure you get the most from the session but also to ensure you remain safe at our sessions

Please bring the following along to our sessions:

  • Anti-bacterial hand gel
  • A small towel/flannel to dry your hands after washing
  • A mini first aid kit including plasters and medi-wipes
  • A drink

We ask that you maintain social distancing of 2 metres throughout our sessions and respect everyone’s right to wear a mask or visor should they wish to do so.

Our COVID-19 risk assessment and policy is available to read upon request. Please email us at [email protected] before your session should you wish to receive a copy.

Thank you for reading, we look forward to seeing you all in the forest very soon!
